Dr. Schiff is the most competent and compassionate doctor. He spends time with you, answers all questions and is very thorough. He was so patient with me, as I am squeamish about my eyes. The epitome of a fantastic doctor. His staff is competent and efficient.

  • William M. Schiff, MD is a board certified Ophthalmologist, specializing in the medical and surgical management of vitreous and retinal diseases. He is the Director of Ophthalmic Surgery at Manhattan Eye Ear and Throat Hospital (MEETH) and serves an educational role as the Co-Director of the Vitreoretinal Fellowship Program. Dr. Schiff s practice encompasses the management of medical and surgical diseases of the vitreous, retina, and macula including macular degeneration, macular hole, epiretinal membrane, diabetic retinopathy and retinal detachment. Dr. Schiff was previously Professor of Clinical Ophthalmology at Columbia University, College of Physicians and Surgeons. He has lectured widely, has authored or coauthored more than 50 publications, and is an active member of numerous professional societies and organizations including The American Academy of Ophthalmology, The Retina Society, The American Society of Retinal Specialists and the New York Ophthalmologic Society. Dr. Schiff has earned the Achievement Award from the American Academy of Ophthalmology and the Honor s Award from the American Society of Retina Specialists. He has been named in New York Magazine s Best Doctors, Castle Connolly s America s Top Doctors and Castle Connolly s Top Doctors in the New York Metro Area.
