Sonia is a wonderfully caring, pragmatic, thoughtful and creative physician’s assistant in endocrinology. I am a difficult patient to treat, with serious, complex, and rare medical problems causing complications for the treatment of my diabetes II and hypothyroidism. Sonia did a deep dive into how my crazy body dealt with other problems and medications, figured out ways to adjust my diabetes medications and diet, and helped me learn to balance it all. Every time there’s a new problem throwing me out of whack, she comes up with a new approach that helps me get through. When COVID struck, many doctors simply stopped seeing patients, while a few others embraced telehealth. Sonia figured out right away that this could be a terrific tool to get in touch with patients and check up on them, regardless of what else was going on. Convincing someone who’s always “too busy” for a regular doctor’s appointment to take 15-20 minutes at their desk instead — that’s a breakthrough.
