Care Philosophy

As a spine & pain management physician, patients come to me after years of dealing with their pain and have minimal improvement of their symptoms after being seen by other physicians. Without aggressive treatment, pain becomes chronic after a six month period. As the source of pain becomes a chronic problem, it often starts to effect other aspects of ones health.
Limiting activity, restricting social engagements and the stress and barriers that severe pain imposes starts to change a patients' outlook on improvement and hope for a pain free future. There are actually documented physical and chemical changes that occur in a patient with chronic pain. Changes are seen in circulating cortisol levels, along with other neurotransmitters involved with sleep cycles and mood.
I understand that the social, emotional and psychological impacts of chronic pain start to play a role in the perception of your pain and thus start adding to the impact of pain in your daily life.
