About Me

Care Philosophy
  • The research of Dr Brennan focuses on how tissue injury causes inflammation and how this inflammation relates to rates of rejection of transplanted organs. Overall, the context in which transplanted organs are encountered by our immune cells is critical to determining the immune response against them. In the setting of tissue injury occurring during organ procurement, storage and transplantation, the immune system is alerted to the presence of tissue damage and initiates a response to this injury. In other words, the immune system recognizes danger signals released by the transplanted organ and can respond aggressively, attacking and damaging the organ.
