As a long-time athlete, with a focus on weight training, it was scary to find myself with a disc herniation in my lower lumbar region that got worse and not better. Standard Orthopedic treatment didn't help, ultimately sciatic pain became agonizing from my hip and butt down to my foot. I literally couldn't stand or walk for more than a few minutes at most. I spoke to a lot of people, including many doctors, who all said they wouldn't go ANYWHERE other than HSS. And within HSS, Dr. McAnany was not only local to me, but clearly the right person to perform the microdiscectomy, with the goal to fix the problem as an ATHLETE, to get me back to the various activities I love. Dr. M and his team were AMAZING. They answered every question I could throw at them, and most critically put me at ease in what was to follow, what my process was, and clear timelines. I'm now 7 weeks out and feel fantastic, and well on my way to a full recovery. Forever Grateful.
