"Dr. Scott Duncan's primary research interests include recurrent carpal tunnel syndrome and joint replacement surgery in the hand, elbow and shoulder. His clinical subspecialty practice involves hand, elbow, and shoulder surgery as well as microsurgery. Dr. Duncan received a Bachelor's Degree in biology from Harvard University, a Doctorate of Medicine from the University of Washington School of Medicine and a Master's Degree of Public Health in Epidemiology from the University of Washington School of Public Health. Dr. Duncan completed an internship in general surgery at the University of Tennessee in Memphis and residency training in orthopedic surgery at the Campbell Clinic-University of Tennessee. He received his fellowship training in hand surgery, upper extremity surgery, and microsurgery at the Hospital for Special Surgery-Cornell Medical College in New York City. Dr. Duncan worked at the Mayo Clinic in Arizona and the Mayo Clinic Health System in Minnesota prior to joining Ochsner where he serves as the Chairman of the Orthopedic Surgery Department. He recently edited the textbook Reoperative Hand Surgery, which will be used as a resource for hand surgeons worldwide for complex cases. Dr. Duncan has served as a leadership fellow for the American Society for Surgery of the Hand and as a leadership fellow for the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons. Dr. Duncan is a member of the American Orthopedic Association and a Vanguard Member of the American College of Physician Executives. He is board certified in orthopedic surgery by the American Board of Orthopedic Surgeons and has a Certificate of Added Qualifications in Hand Surgery. "
