I had a C5-C7 ACDF by Dr Teja in January 2022. During my initial office visit, Dr Teja advised it was best to get the fusion instead of a disc replacement. Upon seeing my disappointment in the replacement not being an option, he asked my concerns. After telling him my concerns, Dr Teja broke down everything for me. He explained why the ACDF was the best option, and why the replacement would just end up having me back in surgery in a couple years to fuse it anyway. He is direct and doesn't beat around the bush. This may be off-putting to some people who expect their physician to tip toe around things. When it comes to my health and the relief of chronic pain, I don't need someone kissing my butt. I want a professional who KNOWS from years of experience what is best, and knows how to explain it. And for folks that complain about seeing the NP or PA after a surgery, that's just how things are done. Unless there's an issue, there's simply no need to see the surgeon.
