One of Dr. Hayek's students did initial interview and assessment. Very professional, knowledgeable and caring. Next, Dr. Hayek with the student that did initial assessment and another one of students entered the exam room. He asked if I was comfortable and O.K. with students being there. I agreed since I believe mentoring and shadowing an experienced medical practicitionor is the BEST way to train the future doctors. Dr. Hayek continued the assessment and explained my status and the next steps for treatment in terms I could follow AND understand. He identified and explained the treatment he would perform to assist in managing my pain and discomfort. He listened to my questions and answered my questions. He kistened to my expectations for future status and provided realistic expectations based on treatment plan plus referred my for physical therapy after his procedure and he, additionally, referred to an orthopedic spinal surgeon for further consultation if an additional procedure is warranted. Dr. Hayek is caring, knowledgeable and thorough. He includes me and seeks my input regarding my expectations in the treatment plan discussion. He provides an exemplary model for his students and demonstrates practical medical doctor/patient interaction better than a classroom/textbook instruction.
