After what I consider a failure by Vanderbilt's neurology team, I had an aneurysm in the pons area of my brain, the day after Christmas, December 26, 2016. I was taken by ambulance from Springfield to Skyline Hospital, unconscious of course, where as I gather a team of specialists were called in, including Dr. Franklin. It's a rather lengthy story, but I'll just say that he did without issue what Vanderbilt's neurologists couldn't quite figure out to do, while essentially performing the same procedure (angiogram). Dr. Franklin made two holes in my skull to drain fluid, then through an angiogram, coiled that vein. It was a long road back to recovery, but without him and a few other good doctors and nurses, I'd be a goner. He's bound to be one of the nations top neurosurgeons.
