Dr Rough is highly intelligent and truly cares for his patients. He has gone out of his way to help me and answer my questions. He has taken care of me and my heart issues for 20 years and I wouldn't be here if it wasn't for him. If you are looking for a caring and compassinate cardiologist, I highly recommend Dr Rough!

  • Dr. Randy Rough finished Wabash College in 1970 with degrees in biology and German - biology as a means of going to medical school, and German 'because it was fun.' To combine business with pleasure, Dr. Rough attended medical school at the University of Graz, Austria, where he could complete his medical training using the German language. He also completed an internship in Austria before returning to the U.S. for his residency and cardiology fellowship. Dr. Rough has a special interest in peripheral vascular disease (problems associated with the flow of blood through the body), sonography and nuclear cardiology. Dr. Rough is board certified in cardiology, nuclear cardiology and echocardiography. He currently practices at Iowa Heart Center's West University clinic in West Des Moines.
