Extreme expertise, took time on his own to sit down with me and my father and literally explained the Mri results to me and my father. I had a seminal vesicle cyst that caused me chronic pain for about ten years, Dr Schlegel was so knowledgeable and took his time to thoroughly examine me. He was able to make the diagnoses for the surgery that needed to be done for me and recommended me to his robotic surgeon dr Jim Hu. I am grateful for both of these men.

Care Philosophy

  • Dr. Schlegel has been an innovator and developed new surgical treatments, medical therapies and genetic tests for men with prostate cancer and male infertility.  The importance of these medical advances is reflected by his many scientific publications and election to numerous important, selective societies and committees.  His approach to patient care is to individualize state-of-the-art knowledge, in combination with his experience and background to compassionately provide optimal care to patients.  This is delivered in a calm setting, spending up to an hour with each new patient to explain evaluation and potential treatment options.  Treatment, when required, is provided at one of the most highly rated hospitals in the country, New York Presbyterian Hospital.  All treatment decisions are made based on the patient's selection of options after complete review of all options, benefits, and potential risks.  Telephone consultations are also available.
