I am a new client. I will report again after I have the fortune to meet with Dr Alpert . For anyone reading these reviews please consider the following: There is a practice among mental health practitioners know as “self disclosure” wherein the doctor or therapist shares personal information about themselves to make the client feel comfortable and to make a personal/heart connection within the professional relationship. Also sharing stories of the struggles and successes of other clients can be helpful to a lot of clients who feel stuck and alone in their suffering . I would suspect that this is where Dr Alpert was coming from. Please consider this likely possibility. BUT I do hear for that first reviewer this approach did not work! Asserting our needs when we are deep in suffering is difficult but you have the right to let any caregiver know that you are in such distress that you have to use all of the appointment to focus exclusively on your condition and medications.
