Dr. Szary represents the epitome of a medical professional that includes his most welcome positive attitude and personality which provided me with the comfort necessary to absorb his detailed diagnosis. The approach to his presentation was very effective in order that I had a complete understanding of my health issues and recommended solutions. His communication skills were outstanding and provided me with the utmost confidence in his attention to detail regarding various issues and considered solutions. During my recent surgery, he conveyed detailed pre and post op information so that I may understand the nature of the procedure and the resulting effects for which I almost grateful. I am very fortunate have found Dr. Szary as my Gastroenterologist of choice who I consider an experienced professional in the best interest of INOVA'S objectives.

Dr. Szary, a board-certified gastroenterologist, most recently completed an advanced endoscopy fellowship at Georgetown University. He has specialized clinical interest in hepatobiliary disease, pancreatic disease and therapeutic endoscopy. The author of multiple presentations, articles and papers, Dr. Szary is a member of the American Society for Gastrointestinal Endoscopy and the American College of Gastroenterology. Over the course of his training, he received a research grant from the National Institutes of Health (NIH) and was an Association for the Study of Liver Disease Presidential Award Winner. Dr. Szary received his medical degree from Saba University, Netherlands Antilles. He completed his internal medicine residency at the University of Missouri-Columbia, where he also completed a gastroenterology fellowship. In addition to his medical degree, Dr. Szary also has a master's degree in Molecular Biology: Biochemistry.
