Listen! This doctor does, and pays attention to the fine details, and respects patients and co-workers. He listens very well and communicates well with a range of people. I accompany a family member to appointments to help support her understanding and later compliance with health recommendations. She is an adult with developmental disabilities. Although she has a great new team, she has told each of them that they won't be as good as Dr. Kakumanu, that he was a special man. Dr Kakumanu made her feel safe and well-informed so she finally decided to have a needed surgery. The parathyroid/thyroid surgery could not have gone better. Every aspect. He explained procedures and conditions and lifestyle choices in ways that she understood and were accurate.
