My husband suffered a stroke and ended up being transferred to St. Luke's on the Plaza where Dr. Akhtar performed emergency surgery. He was able to remove a large blood clot in his brain after five attempts--it usually takes one to two attempts, but he didn't give up. After two hours, Dr. Akhtar came out and talked with me and our son about the procedure and how he had succeeded in removing the large clot, as well as a couple of smaller ones--basically, he saved my husband's life.
