I've had the run around since I first had my period in 2005. So many doctors told me my fainting spells and vomiting during my cycle was completely normal (along with other very odd/painful symptoms) and that there was nothing we could do about it. I met with Dr. Truong in June of this year. I had been exhausted from advocating for myself through research, diet, eastern medicine, finding community, and exercise. When she told that it was possible I had endometriosis and was a good candidate for surgery, I started to tear up. I felt this huge release and a weight lift from my shoulders. Even if I didn't have endometriosis, a doctor listened to me and was willing to help. I had surgery 5 days ago. Her team was incredibly kind and I was diagnosed with stage 1 endometriosis. This process could have been so traumatic and I can't pick out one bad part. Pivotal positive life experience.
