As a Diplomate of the American Board of Anesthesiology, Dr. Michael Drelles is a double board-certified physician in both anesthesiology and pain medicine. Dr. Drelles earned his Doctorate of Osteopathic Medicine at Michigan State University College of Osteopathic Medicine in 2004. He then went on to complete his residency in the Department of Anesthesiology at the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor. Following graduation from residency, he continued his training at an ACGME certified Interventional Pain Medicine fellowship at the University of California Davis in Sacramento, California. The UC Davis Interventional Pain Medicine fellowship is nationally renowned and has received a designation as a Center of Excellence from the American Pain Society. Dr. Drelles serves as an expert witness and consultant for The Investigations & Inspections Division of the Bureau of Professional Licensing for the State of Michigan. Dr. Drelles also carries an academic appointment with the Wayne State University School of Medicine through the Department of Anesthesiology as a Clinical Assistant Professor. With over 10 years of combined clinical practice in anesthesiology and pain medicine, Dr. Drelles combination of outstanding training and experience give him the skills to diagnose and treat a wide variety of pain conditions. As the Medical Director of Straith Hospitals Interventional Pain Center in Southfield, Michigan, he is dedicated to providing patient-focused treatment of chronic pain in a compassionate and caring manner.
