I can't begin to express what an amazing surgeon Dr Richards is. She performed a total thyroidectomy on me and it went so smooth. My incision is so small, truly amazing. Her team and she herself was so caring and spent a lot of time with me as well as follow up visits in the hospital. My surgery was such a great experience and I highly recommend her. She's done over 3000 thyroidectomies and is beyond amazing. Mayo Clinic is an amazing place, will do all future surgeries there.

Care Philosophy

  • My care of patients is focused on being individualized and minimally invasive.  There are ofen many different options for both surgical and medical treatment of endocrine disease. I work with patients and a team of providers in different specialties to develop their personal care plan. At Mayo Clinic we also have some of most advanced technologies and treatments. In addition to minimally invasive and robotic surgery,  there are options of non-surgical treatments of endocrine disease such as radio frequency ablation,  percutaneous ethanol ablation, medical management or even surveillance.  I listen to my patients.  We work together to come up with a care plan that is specific to them,  their priorities and goals for treatment.
