He went on to complete his medical degree from Columbia University in New York in 2009. While in medical school, Dr Garrett was part of the Doris Duke Clinical Research Fellowship, working in the Columbia University Neuro\-vascular Lab. After medical school, he completed his residency at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) Department of Neurosurgery.
