Not just a visit, an eye-opening, life-saving experience. Dr. Marco del Chiaro is a unicorn among surgeons. How many doctors in the world are capable of reconstructing an artery.? When top docs in Seattle told us my husband's tumor was inoperable (because it had engaged with an artery) we figured we would have to count on our oncologist and frequent check-ups to stay alive. Within minutes of meeting him, we were sold. The 11-hour Whipple procedure worked, helping my husband beat Stage 3 pancreatic cancer. But there is more: Dr. Marco is also a compassionate, caring individual, who has stayed by our side through complications that had nothing to do with his work. I could easily run out of superlatives in this meager attempt to sum up this very special man (and now, friend).
