Dr Karas is an amazing surgeon, she cares about each patient, she is kind and supportive through the journey and wants to help you see success. The program provides nutrition education as well to ensure long term success. July 2021 is two years since she helped me change my life and I am forever grateful.

About Me

Care Philosophy

  • Part of what I love about practicing in a small town is that we have been able to develop a community around bariatric surgery. I look at my patients as my family and they have become a family and friends to one another. Through our in-person and online support groups and through my dedicated office staff, we all cheer one another on! I and members of my staff exercise with my patients in group classes and at the YMCA. Groups of patients get together on weekends to catch up and drink healthy smoothies together. Prior patients come to the hospital on surgery day and after to visit and support patients who are just having their surgeries! Bariatric surgery is a marriage; it's not a one-night stand. It's not like having your appendix out in an emergency, where you meet the surgeon once, they do the operation, you follow up once, and then you move on with your life. The Bariatric team provides lifelong support and care after surgery.
