After suffering from U.C. for 2 years and feeling unheard from my G.I., I saw Dr. Shields and knew she was actively listening and willing to provide medical therapies to improved the symptoms and treat the disease, even with some novel therapies like using fish oil supplements. When I was certain that I was not going into remission, she found me the best colorectal surgeon and I now thrive with a Koch pouch replacing my totally ulcerated colon. She's a gem!
