Dr. Downs is one of the top doctors/surgeons in the field GYN cancers. I didn’t know what to expect after I was diagnosed with a stage 3+ cancer (uterine) back in 2014. I was assigned Dr. Downs. He is a brilliant surgeon who is very committed to helping his patients rid themselves of cancer. I had to let go of some of my thoughts and myths about treatment and trust. It was hard. I got 2nd opinions too, and those doctors agreed with Dr. Down’s plan. I went ALL-IN and am so happy that I did. Cancer-free and technically cured from uterine cancer now. It was a tough year. But I think that the treatment I received saved my life. I credit Dr. Downs and the amazing nurses and staff at Fairview. He is a very busy doctor and surgeon, very skilled surgeon. Lean on the nursing staff for support, they are wonderful. Be optimistic, cancer is no longer a death sentence, it is curable many times, and it is treatable if caught early. Get checked out, trust your body if things don’t feel “right”.
