Dr. Nasir's Background
Khurram Nasir, M.D., MPH, is director of research for Baptist Health Medical Group, an organization of more than 180 physicians in multiple specialties closely aligned with Baptist Health South Florida. He joined Baptist Health from Yale-New Haven Hospital, where he was a Clinical Fellow in cardiovascular medicine. After receiving a master’s degree in public health in 2001 from Johns Hopkins University, Dr. Nasir was a senior research assistant and postdoctoral fellow at Johns Hopkins Hospital, an intern in internal medicine at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center, a Fellow in the department of radiology/cardiology at Massachusetts General Hospital and an instructor at the Harvard School of Medicine. He also served as a resident in internal medicine at Boston Medical Center and in radiology at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center. A frequent lecturer on coronary arthrosclerosis and cardiac imaging, Dr. Nasir has published 160 articles and more than 200 abstracts. He is a journal reviewer for numerous medical publications, including the International Journal of Cardiovascular Imaging, Journal of the American College of Cardiology, American Journal of Public Health and Journal of Cardiac Computed Tomography. Dr. Nasir graduated from Allama Iqbal Medical College in Pakistan. Additional positions include associate professor of epidemiology at Florida International University’s Robert Stempel College of Public Health and professor of medicine at Florida International University’s Herbert Wertheim College of Medicine.
