I saw Dr. Hardy nearly a decade ago. It was a brief encounter but the beginning of a pivotal moment in my life of becoming a chronic cancer patient at 29. She was briefly at a family practice I'd gone to for years. It was the first and only time I saw her but I'd seen other doctors with concerns about my strange symptoms. With calm curiosity, measured steps, and responsible communication, helped get me to a specialist who diagnosed me with chronic myeloid leukemia. I was a unique case and not a typical patient for the diagnosis. I'd had CML for over a year without any practitioner suspecting it. Dr. Hardy listened to me and was thoughtful at every step from examining me to conveying troubling test results to sending me to the best oncologist I could ask for. Having now seen so many practitioners of health care over the last decade I've grown great appreciation for a good doctor with emotional intelligence and cautious expertise. Dr. Hardy saved my life and I'm grateful to this day.
