About Me

Care Philosophy

  • "It was volunteering at the Washington, DC Free Clinic during my graduate school days that convinced me I needed to make an abrupt career change," says Dr. Stansell. "Almost overnight, my enthusiasm for studying small molecule signaling and cell differentiation changed to a burning desire to advance health care for my community. Medicine became a passion, not an option. Not a day in the past thirty years have I awakened without that same fervor for patient care. I am now and have always been enormously grateful for this opportunity."
