About Me

Care Philosophy
  • Dr. James Paine, Jr., MD is triple board certified by the American Board of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, American Board of Cosmetic Surgery and the American Board of Otolaryngology, Head and Neck Surgery with over 25 years in these surgical specialties. Dr. Paine, a native West Virginian, was born and raised in Bluefield, West Virginia. He received his Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Richmond and his Doctorate of Medicine from West Virginia University. Dr. Paine completed his residency and fellowship training at several outstanding facilities, including: West Virginia University Medical Center (Department of Otolaryngology, Head and Neck Surgery) Armed Forces Institute of Pathology (Pathology Training), and Clyde Litton, MD, Washington, D.C. (Plastic Surgery). Since 1995, Dr. Paine has been in private practice in Beckley, West Virginia, with Mountain State ENT and Facial Plastic Surgery, Mountain State Cosmetic Surgery and Laser Center and Healing Springs Medical Spa. In addition, Dr. Paine is the owner and Medical Director of Beckley Surgery Center (our AAAHC accredited outpatient surgery center) where all of his cosmetic surgeries are performed, as well as many of his Ear, Nose and Throat surgeries. Previously, he practiced at two other clinics including Bluefield Ear, Nose and Throat, at which time he practiced alongside his father, Albert J. Paine, Sr., MD and at the McGuire Clinic in Richmond, VA. In addition to his certifying boards, Dr. Paine has also been accepted to the following professional boards/academies: the American Medical Association (AMA), the American Academy of Otolaryngic Allergy, American Society of Liposuction, West Virginia Board of Hearing Aid Dealers, and the West Virginia State Medical Association. Dr. Paine also holds the title of Assistant Clinical Professor for West Virginia University School of Medicine, Department of Otolaryngology, Head and Neck Surgery.
