Dr Petrosky saved my life. I was on my way to immobility due to my size, but I was afraid of the surgery. When I had a gallbladder attack, he sat me down and gave me all of the details that I needed to understand that the surgery was my best option. He worked with me for 6 months to lose 110 lbs and then I had the surgery and lost another 160 lbs. I am a different person and I have a whole new life. And I owe it all to him.

"Do the right thing for your patients," has been the most valuable piece of advice I received as a Chief Resident.
As a doctor, and a surgeon, I realize that patients place a lot of trust in the health-care, and as an extension, they place a lot of trust in me.
When I walk out of the room, I want the patient and their family members who are there for support to understand everything that I said, and be able to explain things back to me. I try to make sure everyone is on the same page with me, and I try to explain the options and the choices that we are faced with, and I want to help patients make the right choice for themselves. If something doesn't make sense I will spend extra-time to ensure that there are not a million questions as soon as I walk out of the room. I try to answer all the questions I can when I am standing in the room.
