I am a 78-year-old woman who had a double hip replacement performed by Dr. Fischer 7 weeks ago. For the previous year+ I experienced increasing pain and decreasing mobility. I was in a wheelchair for the last 9 months and was taking heavy meds to combat the pain. I was also without a diagnosis so there was nothing positive on the horizon. A friend referred me to Dr. Fischer, and everything changed. I now had a diagnosis, and the surgery was scheduled for less than two months out. I was able to stop the pain meds 1 week post-surgery. I transitioned away from the wheelchair to a walker and now a cane. I am able to drive, walk my dog, and take out my own trash. The pre- and post-surgical consults were timely, informative, and productive, and Dr. Fischer's team checked in frequently. My time at Providence Portland was amazing as well... skilled, attentive, and caring. This process and the people who helped me have been exceptional and my family and I are beyond grateful.
