About Me
Care Philosophy
- Here at Rush, there has been a unique tradition of treating patients with gastrointestinal cancers - or GI cancers - by a closely interacting team of experts. My clinical interest - besides being involved in the care of GI cancer patients - is mainly to prevent such cancers after identifying individuals who are at higher risk for developing GI cancers, based on their family history or other risk factors. We can then offer them personalized surveillance strategies to prevent cancer in them and/or their families. This could only be achieved through a multidisciplinary approach involving different subspecialties, including gastroenterologists - like myself - surgeons, pathologists and geneticists. And the most important member of the team are our patients themselves, who can be involved in every decision-making process to make an educated decision to choose the best strategies that suit them and their families.
