I can not recommend this surgeon my breast cancer surgery and recovery were a living nightmare I am still dealing with an after math of pain. I had massive hematomas it was frightening I looked like I was beaten across my chest, abdomen and other breast with a baseball bat! No one checked for bruising after the surgery, she also approved administration of an unknown to me drug exparel instead of the lidocaine used normally. The pain was excruciating massive swelling when I returned two days afterward I was told I needed a second surgery? I said no I had been thru enough! I was wrapped in compression going forward 3 weeks later a manual evacuation was performed while my poor husband watched her remove 5 cups of blood and clots from my poor breast throwing the gauze and qtips she stirred around to break up the clots inside. Two weeks later I was still horribly swollen and in pain. I went thru another evacuation again being stirred up in my breast area like cake batter! I was left with an open wound which I had to manually express clots and blood from several times a day. When I stated the ace wrap compression was adding to the hematomas I got attitude then when the wound was closing I was accused of not milking my breast area which I sent photos of what I was removing! Still in pain at next follow up I requested an Ultra sound to see why and she refused, again at follow up I requested an ultra sound to see why and she refused! She stated to take Vitamin E blamed it on coffee which I drink 3 cups a day! Vitamin E was a joke the pain increased in September when I decided to see an ortho. After basic Xrays he saw bone spurs where the bra straps and band which I was told to wear 24-7 were rubbing and irritating it showed on Ultra sound as well wear the ortho injected cortisone to try and ease the pain which was now due to the compression and having to wear a bra constantly were hitting! The contracture of Dr Gates surgery is also causing pain I did not and do not want Plastic surgery and it was stated clearly to her. As for the office staff they are amazing compassionate nurses but for this Dr. she needs to listen to her patients go back to school to learn basic oncoplastic technique before she does another surgery! It is my body she caused so much suffering and pain the cosmetic out come is horrible you can see the contracted breast thru my shirts! I had a bad experience hopefully you will not and health grades will not remove what honestly happened.
