About Me

Care Philosophy
  • Inpatients at Cancer Treatment Centers of America® (CTCA) in Tulsa rely on Hospitalist Dr. Don King to coordinate their care and help develop their overall treatment plan. Dr. King works together as part of a team to care for inpatients. He also understands that by explaining options to inpatients and assisting them in the decision-making process, he is empowering them to take control of their health and their path to recovery. “When we meet, we consider the whole family unit, in addition to the patient,” says Dr. King. “I’ve had cancer and so has my wife, so we’re very sensitive to what it feels like to be challenged by cancer.” Dr. King and his team give patients the time and the information they need, so they are empowered to be good decision-makers. Board certified in internal medicine and administrative medicine, Dr. King completed residencies in internal medicine at Pacific-Presbyterian Hospital in San Francisco and the University of Illinois. He has held positions as assistant professor of internal medicine, chief of hospital services at the U.S. Air Force Hospital in Turkey and medical director at City of Faith Hospital in Tulsa. When he’s not tending to patients, Dr. King and his wife, Rev. Joy D. King, MD (ret.), DMin, perform ministry work to help others, medically and spiritually.

Board Certifications
What’s a board certification and why is it important that my provider has one?

A board certification represents a provider’s dedication to ongoing training in one or more specialties, including the completion of intensive exams. While not all specialties have board certifications, if your provider does have one they’ve taken the extra step to master their specialty and to keep up with the latest advancements in their field.
