Care Philosophy

I feel privileged to be in a position where I can work together with my patients and their families as a team to support the needs of the child and to make a difference in the life of the child and his/her family. I strive to be a good listener and to take the time to get to know my patients, to use evidence based medicine, and to take advantage of available resources to optimize outcome. I have been captivated by the neurosciences since my undergraduate work in a biological psychology lab studying learning and memory. During my medical and graduate studies, I conducted basic research on neuronal excitability as part of my PhD thesis, with the hope of one day applying the lessons learned in lab to the patients I see in clinic. During my residency training, I was drawn to work with patients with neurodevelopmental disabilities.
