For family medicine physician Craig McMullen, MD, practicing in East Texas seems like a natural fit. ``I was born and raised in rural Texas, so I understand folks from around here.``
Though he studied medicine at the University of Texas School of Medicine in San Antonio, he always planned on returning to the region. ``I'm from a small community and that's one of the reasons why I choose to practice in a small community: I want to give back.``
Today Dr. McMullen gives back by treating people of all ages at the UT Health East Texas Physicians clinics in Mineola and Carthage. With extra training in obstetrics and pediatrics, he even delivers and cares for babies. ``I don't think there's any greater specialty than family medicine where you can take care of people throughout their entire lives. It's interesting because it's always changing as a person grows.``
