Dr Cesar, as he calls himself, is very technically skilled and incredibly compassionate! I had a quite traumatic event in the pre-op holding area at the University of Iowa and when Dr Cesar found out about it he called me at home!! This wasn’t his responsibility as it was anesthesiologists that caused the trauma, but he told me that as the surgeon he felt responsible. I found this so comforting because sometimes in a HUGE hospital you can start to feel like a slab of beef on a butcher’s block. My anesthesia team made me feel that way but NOT Dr. Cesar! He’s not only a World class surgeon, he’s also a wonderful human being!
