Dr. Brockington's Background


Dr. Carolyn D. Brockington is a stroke neurologist and Director of the Stroke Center at Mount Sinai St. Luke's and Mount Sinai Roosevelt in New York City.  She is board certified in Neurology and Vascular Neurology and holds the title of assistant Clinical Professor of Neurology, at Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons.  She completed her medical internship and neurology residency at Mount Sinai Hospital where she was appointed chief resident of neurology from 1997 to 1998.  Subsequently, she pursued her interests in stroke at the University of California, San Diego, where she completed a cerebrovascular fellowship.

Her interests include improving clinical outcomes and identifying stroke prevention strategies in high-risk communities.  In addition, she has partnered with her neurosurgical and endovascular colleagues at Mount Sinai St. Luke's and Mount Sinai Roosevelt to examine issues surrounding re-vascularization procedures, including complications arising from antiplatelet resistance and vascular re-stenosis.

Dr. Brockington is on the editorial board of and peer reviewer for WebMD (neurological section).  In addition, she is a member of the New York City Stroke Task Force and NY Go Red Committee.  She has written numerous articles about stroke-related issues and participates in several clinical trials regarding acute stroke intervention.
