When I realized I needed replacement surgery, I went in search of someone with lots and lots of experience doing shoulders. It was unclear as to whether I'd have a total or reverse total shoulder replacement so I needed to have absolute trust in the doc who made that decision. Another doctor asked me which I wanted and I thought 'how the heck am I to know' and then said he'd decide once he got in there. Dr Cohen simulated the surgery on the computer the night before and told me right before surgery that I needed a reverse shoulder. He explained it completely and I had the utmost confidence that he was doing what was best. I was a bit taken aback at my 6 week follow-up that he appeared so excited (almost giddy) that it was working so well and I thought 'wasn't that what you were expecting?' but it made me realize what a miracle had been performed that I had a completely functioning pain free shoulder. When I finally decide to get my knee replaced, I know where I'll go.
