13 y/o developed persistent toe walking during the pandemic. General PT didn't help. She then saw Dr. Martin. If MRI was clear, he wanted to do surgery on her achilles. He and the PA said surgery was the only option. Bedside manner was inappropriate when my daughter asked about complications. 'If the achilles burst, we would be screwed'. Got a 2nd opinion from another pediatric ortho surgeon. His surgical approach was completely different from the one Dr. Martin presented. But this surgeon then asked if we had seen PM&R yet. Followed it by saying the ortho surgeon should be our last resort. We went on to have her see PM&R and her toe walking was successfully treated in a conservative manner with PT/serial casting. This happened in 2021.
