We started bringing our son to Dr. Yancey about five years ago after struggling to find a psychiatrist who understood his mental health issues and knew how to treat them. Dr. Yancey has been extremely helpful over the years. He is able to explain conditions and treatments to both our son and us, and more importantly, was able to find medication that actually helped our son without overmedicating him. While we would recommend Dr. Yancey to anyone who has a child in need of psychiatric help, he is also adoption-competent and understands the effects of early-childhood trauma. I mention this only because we found that many psychiatrists are not.
