After a diagnosis, the wealth of information needed to make an informed decision regarding treatment can be quite overwhelming. Learning about the disease process not only helps with treatment decision, but also helps calm the anxiety associated with a new diagnosis. Although clinical trials are not right for everybody, participation into a clinical trial should be considered and offered to all newly diagnosed patients. Through participation in clinical trials patients can have access to the newest and most promising treatments that may be more effective and/or less toxic that our current standard therapies.
