About Me

Care Philosophy
  • Juliefirst became interested in neurology in her undergraduate courses at the Universityof Michigan. Majoring in movement science, she focused on motor control,including courses focused on disorders of voluntary movement, and understandingthose mechanisms in order to establish treatment. She then went on to obtain anational registration as an EEG Technologist, and worked for years in epilepsy,continuing to grow her passion for neurology before attending school to becomea physician assistant. Julie is excited to come to work each day, because neurologyis such a vast and exciting field, and each patient and case is different andrewarding in its own way. She enjoys working alongside a fantasticcollaborative team, whose goal is to improve patient outcomes and make adifference in their lives.Julie credits living in Germany during high school as having the greatestinfluence on her life. There she learned to value travel and adventure, butalso how language doesn’t have to be a barrier to connecting and caring forpeople, and how important it is to take the time to understand each person andtheir values.Julie has volunteered her time with the MCREST team, a rotating homelessshelter in Macomb County, and looks forward to finding opportunities to serveher new community in southwest Michigan. In her free time, Julie loves to read,travel, and spend time in nature, especially among trees or by the water.My approach for patients to receive the highest level of care is to treat each patient first and foremost as a human being. It’s a tremendous privilege to serve my patients, and my goal is for each patient to feel heard and respected.
