In 2021 when I was suffering with two sores on my tongue that lasted for months, Dr. Hoover begged me to go to a specialist to see if the sores were cancerous. I resisted for months but she continued to urge me to do so. I finally did see a cancer specialist and a biopsy revealed that, indeed, I had tongue cancer. Dr. James May, with Va. EN&T, performed the surgery successfully removing all of the cancerous portion of my tongue. That was almost 4 years ago, and the cancer has not returned or spread. . I am so grateful for Dr. Hoover’s persistence; indeed since tongue cancer usually spreads rapidly, she is definitely my guardian angel and probably my life saver.
