About Me
Care Philosophy

My approach to treating patients is centered upon the dignity of the patient. Patients with heart disease (and their families) are often afraid of their conditions. I believe that patients deserve to fully understand what their diagnosis is and what my recommendations are regarding their treatment plan. I do my best to educate my patients about their cardiac conditions, and explain their treatment options clearly and respectfully.
My practice heavily focuses upon evidence-based and guideline-directed medical and procedural therapy. I believe it is crucial for patients to thoroughly understand their heart conditions, and to function as partners in the decision making process pertinent to their care. Basing our collective treatment decisions upon evidence-based medicine is an integral component of my practice.
As an academic physician who is actively involved in educating physicians and performing cardiovascular research, I consider it essential that I do my best in helping my patients gain an understanding of their heart conditions and their treatment strategies. I believe that this collaborative approach will yield dramatically better long-term clinical outcomes: the patient and physician functioning as a team, dedicated to improving global cardiovascular health, one person at a time.
