Care Philosophy

  • I take an easy going yet no-nonsense direct-and-to-the-point style with my clients. My preferred approach to treatment is to utilize Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT), which posits the notion that our thoughts effect our feelings, which in turn has a significant influence in determining our behaviors. CBT is generally short-term and focused on helping clients deal with a very specific problem. The cognitive aspect of Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy focuses upon a better understanding of any negative or distorted thoughts that we may have. The behavioral aspect of the therapy works to change negative ways of thinking and counterproductive patterns of behavior that we exhibit throughout everyday environment.CBT has proved extremely effective in working with both teens and adults struggling with anxiety, depression, bipolar disorder, schizophrenia or schizoaffective disorders, social phobias, addiction or other compulsive disorders such as gambling, eating, spending, or sex.
