In nov 21, 2022, I had surgery on my artery that went from my heart to kidney at the Mayo Clinic because Angie did the right ultrasound test that found the problem. She referred me to Mayo. For 6 months, I went to 3 local cardio dr's. They lectured me on stress & told me my BP was high bcuz of my age. The dr's had me on 4 different Bp meds a total of 7 pills a day. My BP still was high. I'm amazed I didn't have a stroke or heart attack. The dr's staff repeatedly told me they understood my concerns about having a stroke or heart attack. I don't know how they could bcuz they were in their 20s,30s, 40s not 66!! Angie, looked at the 4 BP meds I was taking, my BP log, and my mom's heart disease history. Angie figured out the test that I needed. She saved my life.
My philosophy of patient care is that I do not give treatment to patients, I do it for and with patients. Most importantly, Patient education is a very important part of every visit. You need to leave knowing what is going on. When a patient has an understanding of their condition and the treatment options, they are ready to manage their own healthcare. I believe nothing empowers the patient like information. I will always sit and discuss labs, and why they are the way they are and what WE can do to change your life should you choose to make the change necessary. No question is too small. I am here to help you change your life.
