How can people empower themselves in their own HIV care?

You know, they have less time with their doctor. The doctor doesn't know them as well. The doctor has more patients.
There might have been a time when you could turn your health care over to the doctor in the white coat. [MUSIC PLAYING]
Communicating and being in touch with other people in similar health situations is one of the most powerful things
people can do. Online communities, people are getting more and more of their information from online sources,
you know, like Sharecare and others. And that's very important, because people are getting less time with their doctor. They have less time with their doctor.
The doctor doesn't know them as well. The doctor has more patients. There might have been a time when you could turn your health
care over to the doctor in the white coat, but for most people that's not the situation today.
You have to be-- and you have to be empowered within the system to access health care. Whether you're insured or not insured,
you know, it is a complicated path, and the people who focus on that are the people who are going to have the best
health outcomes. [MUSIC PLAYING]
