William M. Litaker

Bio

Dr. William M. Litaker, Jr. received his undergraduate degree in chemistry from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 1981 and his DDS degree from the UNC School of Dentistry in 1985. He has been practicing as a full-time Hickory, North Carolina dentist since 1985.

Dr. Litaker has served in the local, district, state, and national dental societies. He is past President of the Western Piedmont Dental Society, First District Dental Society, and the North Carolina Dental Society. He serves as a deputy examiner for the Council of Interstate Testing Agencies, helping to administer the dental hygiene and dental exam to new dental hygienists and dentists. He participates in the Give Kids a Smile and Mission of Mercy projects which help provide dental care to underserved children and adults in North Carolina.

Dr. Litaker is a Fellow in the following honorary dental organizations: The Academy of General Dentistry (an organization recognizing the importance of continuing dental education), The Academy of Dentistry International (an organization dedicated to providing dental care to the underserved in other countries), The American College of Dentists (an organization that stresses ethics, professionalism, and ethical decision making), The International College of Dentists (an organization dedicated to the recognition of outstanding professional achievement, meritorious service, and the continued progress of the profession of dentistry for the benefit of all humankind), and the Pierre-Fauchard Academy (an organization that is dedicated to the improvement of the practice of dentistry). He has served on the North Carolina Dental Society Board of Trustees, and he was a former Chairman of the Board. He currently serves on the North Carolina Dental Society legislative committee and as a delegate to the American Dental Association.
