Veronica Baker

Bio

In 1989 I began as a Nursing Assistant in a Long-term care (LTC) facility.  I obtained my ADN degree in nursing from Kent State (KSU) graduating in 1992. I’ve worked in a variety of roles in LTC and in 2001 worked acute care. I returned to KSU to obtain my BSN degree in 2004. In 2005, I became an Assistant Director of Nursing and in 2008 became Director of Nursing (DON) in LTC. I am currently working on my Adult CNS degree for advanced practice at KSU.     I am a member of the National Association of Directors of Nursing Administration, National Gerontological Nurses Association, National Association of Clinical Nurse Specialist and of course, STTI.  I am certified DON and in geriatrics. I also participate in the Ohio Nurses Association’s workplace violence Blue Team.   My specialty experience is in geriatrics, urology/incontinence, nurse leadership and the long-term care setting.   My research is transitions, Relationship Based Care and violence in the workplace.
