Bio

My life; physically, mentally, and emotionally changed drastically four years ago. My level of functioning has been impacted to the point where any physical activity is extremely painful. Vibrations and touch only increase the pain. Lack of exercise and medication created a multiple challenges. One of them was losing my identity in the work force, socially, and physically. However, I have found that if I keep my neck under the water in a a warm water pool I can be mobile and am able to feel the joy that physical activity brings. Bodies are meant to move. Maintaining a healthy diet of fruits and vegetables has always been easy for me, although I also love breads and sweets. Three years ago, I experienced another life changing experience; ovarian cancer. I have grown and transformed through that process which ultimately has been a blessing in so many ways as my faith grew I was able to come to terms with my injury. Trial and tribulations in life are part of life. At times in our lives resistance is futile. I am at a very good place; I am a survivor, I chose to thrive and to be happy. A healthy diet and exercise are crucial to survival and quality of life. I love learning and feel invigorated when watching Dr. Oz. I have incorporated many of his and his guests suggestions and techniques with success. Since my injury four years ago my weight increased to 233 pounds. I am happy to report, since 2009 I have lost over thirty pounds. However, I am having difficulty gaining muscle to help burn fat. Transformation Nation has brought about a new inspiration. Not only for me but now my boyfriend (who met you at the 2010 Super Bowl in Dallas) watches the DVR taping of your show with me and has started his journey to a healthier life style of eating because of my success and interest in your show. He has much farther to go in this journey of transformation, but he has begun...thanks to you!

Hi Elke! I am not gone, just a little perturbed no one (specialist) answers any of my questions, so why bother??? Any way I would love to chat some time. I am on Facebook or email is the same as my name with G mail. I hope all is well with you and yours and all those animals as well. Take care, I will be checking in every once in a while. But I get overwhelmed with where to log everything and it take me so long, I prefer journaling on paper. My days are pretty much the same, pool exercise or cart walking and healthy diet choices.

Good Morning Sharon. Yes, no Millionair Life for me. hahahaha. But you are right. Quality of life is much more important. To be overweight is also no drama. Chronic pain and sickness in general is the real drama. But only people with sickness and chronic pain know that. So, you and I will keep on pushing towards a pain free life and we will make sure we don't gain that weight back we have lost already. haha. Thank you for your words of wisdom and I wish you and Joe well. Take very good care of youself and I will talk to you later. Keep on fighting. One day we will win the fight over sickness. Elke

Hi Elke! I was sure hoping you would be in the final ten. Either way, we are all winners, getting our health and weight on track leads to better quality of life. most people don't understand and take for granted quality of life even when their over weight. Living with a chronic pain condition one learns real fast to appreciate every level of functioning and mobility and to never take any moment for granted. Appreciate the time with family, friends and co-workers as it can end at any moment.
