Patricia Heinrich

Bio

Patricia Heinrich is an independent quality improvement consultant with fourteen years experience providing organizational and programmatic leadership and expertise in the science and methods of health care quality improvement and system change. Pat has worked extensively to improve healthcare systems, reduce disparities in care, improve health literacy and provide culturally appropriate care.  Prior to starting a business on her own, Pat served as the Executive Program Director for the National Initiative for Children’s Healthcare Quality.  In this role, Pat developed and implemented multiple pediatric quality improvement and educational projects, working across the country, with multidisciplinary health care teams, translating evidence into practice.  The prior 25 years of her career were spent working in clinical, education and leadership positions in acute care Maternal and Child Health units. Pat is a champion for the involvement of families in every aspect of health care delivery, quality improvement, leadership and policy.

    Is magnesium safe for women who are pregnant or breastfeeding?

    The best way to get the extra magnesium needed is from eating dark green leafy vegetables or other foods high in magnesium like bananas, nuts, and whole grains. Use of magnesium supplements should be discussed with the OB or Midwife during pregnancy.
